Edinburgh Haiku Circle was established in January 2016 with the aim of bringing together people and words while drawing inspiration from Japanese haiku. The circle meets once a month at the Scottish Poetry Library, just off the city’s Royal Mile. Each meeting lasts for two hours, the first hour being employed in the study and discussion of selected Japanese haiku, and the second hour being allocated to appreciating haiku composed by participants. The atmosphere is casual and no previous knowledge of the Japanese language is required. A record of haiku composed by our members so far can be perused by clicking a season in the roll-down menu item “Haiku by Season”. Enjoy!
Edinburgh Haiku Circle’s next meeting will take place on 28th October 2017, 1.30-3.30pm in the downstairs space at the Scottish Poetry Library. The cost is £5 (or £3 for concessions) payable on the day. Contact Catherine Urquhart (firstname.lastname@example.org) to book your place.
*SPECIAL: See the first interview in our new “EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH…” series, in which we talk to German haiku poet, Simone K. Busch. Just click “Special” on the menu bar, and enjoy!
